Alex Ramirez
- From El Paso to the Rooftops: My Journey of Passion and Learning
I was born and raised in the vibrant city of El Paso, Texas. Growing up in this close-knit community, I developed a strong sense of pride in my roots and a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that surrounded me. El Paso shaped my identity and set the stage for the adventures that awaited me.
During my time at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), I pursued my passion for music education and media advertising and marketing. While I eventually dropped out, the experience opened my eyes to the power of creativity and expression. It laid the foundation for my future endeavors and shaped my outlook on life.
To support myself, I started working with my uncle in landscaping. Those early days of manual labor taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. However, it wasn’t long before an opportunity arose that would change the course of my professional life.
I landed a job as a newspaper carrier for the El Paso Times. Throwing papers in the early hours of the morning taught me discipline and the importance of reliability. It also instilled in me a strong work ethic that would serve me well in the years to come.
After several years, I found my calling in the roofing business. What started as a job soon transformed into a passion. For the past 14 years, I have dedicated myself to this industry, learning the ins and outs of the trade, and honing my skills as a roofer.
Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to excel, I became a licensed TDI insurance adjuster. This allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the insurance industry and provided me with valuable insights that I could share with my clients.
As a member of BNI Apex Chapter, I realized the importance of education in empowering my clients to make informed decisions. My goal is not just to sell a service but to educate every client I meet. Even if they choose a different path, I believe that providing them with the knowledge they need to make the right decision is the true measure of success.
Throughout my journey, I have strived to build trust with my clients and make a positive impact on their lives. Whether it’s through providing high-quality roofing services, sharing insurance insights, or offering guidance, my aim is to empower individuals to make choices that align with their best interests.
My autobiography is not just a reflection of my past experiences but a testament to the ongoing journey that lies ahead. I am committed to continuous growth, learning, and making a difference in the lives of those I encounter. From El Paso to the rooftops, I embrace the challenges and opportunities that await me, driven by passion, purpose, and a genuine desire to serve.

- From Power Lines to Boardrooms: A Journey of Business and Restoration
- In this autobiography, I will take you on a journey through my diverse career path, from my college days to becoming a successful entrepreneur. My name is Ty Smith, and I graduated from college in the Class of 1994. With a major in Business Law and Accounting, I embarked on a professional journey that would shape my life in unexpected ways.
After completing my college education, I entered the workforce with a passion for business and a thirst for knowledge. I found myself immersed in the world of commercial electrical constructions for three years. The hands-on experience I gained during this time honed my skills in problem-solving and attention to detail.
Eager to explore new horizons, I transitioned into a role where I wired and programmed Unix and Windows-based point of sales systems for the hospitality industry. This venture lasted three years, during which I embraced the challenges of integrating technology into business operations. These years fostered my love for innovation and instilled in me a strong understanding of the potential of technology in shaping industries.
Driven by my passion for sales, I embarked on a decade-long journey, selling business-to-business point of sales systems. During these ten years, I honed my negotiation skills and developed an in-depth understanding of the intricacies of the sales process. Through dedication and perseverance, I achieved success in this competitive field, building lasting relationships with clients and driving business growth.
Seeking a new challenge, I transitioned into the retail sector, serving as an assistant store manager at Lowe’s Home Improvement store for two years. This role allowed me to gain invaluable experience in managing a team and overseeing day-to-day operations in a retail environment.
Recognizing my knack for sales and management, I delved into the roofing industry, spending four years working in sales and management roles for three different companies. This period taught me the ins and outs of the roofing business, further refining my leadership skills and expanding my knowledge of the construction industry.
In 2012, I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey that would change the trajectory of my career. Together with Alex Ramirez, I co-founded Smith and Ramirez Restoration, a company dedicated to restoring and renovating homes and businesses. As co-owner, I was responsible for overseeing operations, managing client relationships, and driving business growth. This venture allowed me to combine my passion for construction, sales, and customer service into a thriving enterprise.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I have actively contributed to my community. I served as the RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) President from 2022 to 2023, where I advocated for the interests of fellow contractors and worked towards enhancing industry standards. Additionally, I joined the boards of the local Habitat for Humanity and the YMCA, dedicating my time and expertise to improve the lives of others.
My life has been a tapestry of diverse experiences, each contributing to my personal and professional growth. From my early days in electrical constructions to my current role as a business owner and community advocate, I have embraced challenges, seized opportunities, and constantly sought to make a positive impact. As I reflect on my journey, I am grateful for the people I’ve met, the lessons I’ve learned, and the growth I’ve experienced. I eagerly anticipate the next chapter in my life, ready to embrace new challenges and continue leaving my mark on the world.
